As we all know, Christian Bale is on board to play iconic rebel leader John Connor in the new Terminator film tentatively titled Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. Well, it turns out that he will not only be playing Connor for that film, but for two subsequent films.
I for one am excited about this, as I’m a huge fan of Mr. Bale in his work as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise and in other films. So I am excited to see him take on this other iconic role on film.

Today NBC announced it’s official Fall schedule and confirmed that Heroes will return with a 3-hour event on September 22nd at 8PM.
If you recall, it was reported here that Heroes would be premiering with its three-hour premiere event on September 15. My guess is that this change was caused by the fact that this premiere date will be more along the lines of everything else that is premiering on NBC and all the other networks.
Still very exciting news, though. Let the countdown begin . . .

Dollhouse may not be premiering until January, but that hasn’t stopped Fox from posting promo pictures for all to see, and get excited about it.
This pictures got me jazzed about the new series and even more excited about how this series is going to compare with all the other Joss-related stuff in the past.
January cannot come any faster . . .
Here are the pics for your viewing pleasure. Look at them as many times as you want.

It was reported on several other sites that Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan) was not returning for Smallville’s eighth season.
Well, it has been confirmed by TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello that Allison Mack is not only returning for season 8, but will be in all of the season’s episodes.
This makes me glad, because when I was hearing she might not return, I don’t know if I would’ve been able to watch season 8. But now that she is officially returning, my heart is doing cartwheels!

It has been recently reported that Eric Stoltz has been signed to star opposite Esai Morales in the two-hour BSG prequel pilot, Caprica.
Stoltz will be playing the role of Daniel Graystone, a wealthy computer engineer who, after an emotionally crippling family tragedy, uses his technological wizardry to forever change the future of Caprica. One might assume that this role that Mr. Stoltz will be playing cpuld be the creator of the Cylons. But that’s pure speculation at this point . . .
In other casting news, Alessandra Toressani will be playing Daniel’s daughter, Zoe.

It has been reported by LA Weekly that Dollhouse, the upcoming Joss Whedon show, Dollhouse, will receive a midseason pickup from FOX in the same way that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles did.
Although I am glad the show has been picked up, but I am just saddened that it got a midseason pickup instead of a whole season pickup. But hey, maybe we’ll get 22 episodes within that time. Who knows?
More waiting . . . Grrr . . . Argh . . . Dang you, FOX!
But hey at least it’s a pickup.

It has recently been reported that David Solomon has been listed as a director on the new Whedon show, Dollhouse.
What are Mr. Solomon’s credentials, as far as Whedon things go though? Well, to start off, he was co-producer on Buffy, and directed the fan-favorite episode of Firefly, Out of Gas.
So it should be interesting to see what Mr. Solomon adds to the already rich-in-awesomeness, Dollhouse.

It has been reported by Variety that the FOX Netwprk has officially picked up “Fringe,” J.J. Abrams’ new series about a young female FBI Agent who tackles cases involving unexplained medical and scientific phenomena.
I think this would be a great companion to Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse,” should they choose to air it on the ever-competitive Thursday night slot. But I don’t know when either of those shows will air on FOX, so it should be interesting either way.
Needless to say, I will be tuning in . . .

TV.com has revealed the description for the second episode of Kyle XY, Psychic Friend, and it definitely does not look well for a much beloved character in the series. I know I was intrigued to see where it goes from here for a certain character that has enamored and surprised me throughout the series’ run so far.
The season is still premiering in January, as I said in my premiere post. I just hope ABC Family knows what they’re doing by giving us these dreadfully long hiatuses. Ehhh . . . We’ll see.

It has been reported by TV Guide that veteran actor Bruce Boxleitner (better known to Sci-Fi fans as John Sheridan from Babylon 5) has landed a secret recurring role on Heroes.
This role was going to be modeled after Senator John McCain, but has since has been reconceived. It has now been reported that this character will be sharing scenes with a female series regular.
This news, in addition to previous Heroes casting news, would lead one to believe that this would be a repeat of season 2’s onslaught of new characters. But it has been reported that the primary focus will be on the “core characters from the pilot.”

The first bit of casting for the two-hour Caprica pilot (the prequel to Battlestar Galactica) has been released, and it’s pretty big too.
The role that has been cast is the character of Joseph Adama, father of William Adama (played by Edward James Olmos in Galactica). He is to be played by Esai Morales, who has eben featured in shows such as Jericho, and NYPD Blue. Now I have not seen Mr. Morales in any of these roles, but he sure looks like he could be Olmos’ dad.
The casting call describes Joseph as a deeply passionate man with a strong sense of justice - - and someone you wouldn’t want as your enemy.
More news will be posted as it develops.

It has just been reported by TV Guide that Brea Grant (as seen on Friday Night Lights) will be joining the cast of Heroes as a character known only as “The Speedster”.
If the codename was any indication, this characters’ special power is superspeed, which kind of excites me as superspeed is a power I’ve been clamoring for on Heroes for some time now.

Now, I don’t post news for my favorite serialized sitcom, How I Met Your Mother, often, but I just felt this one was worth talking about.

In the same article , the Hollywood Reporter weighs the future on several other “bubble” shows on the varipus television networks.

According to Variety, rapper/actor Common has signed on for a role in the latest chapter in the Terminator saga, which was originally titled Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, but is now untitled.
For those unfamiliar, this movie takes place in the future where Skynet rules the earth and John Connor’s (as played by Christian Bale in this movie) resistance does all they can to fight it.
Common is going to be playing a freedom fighter and one who has in Connor’s inner circle. I don’t know how I feel about rappers and musicians but we’ll see how it goes when the film is released a year from now.

It has been recently reported that Iron Man has made a whopping 210 million dollars worldwide. This was the second-best opening ever for a nonsequel movie (the first being the original Spider-Man movie in 2002), and also the fourth-best for a superhero film.
Now, I think this is great news for this movie and bodes well for the future of Marvel movies. I personally can’t wait to see this movie. By the week’s end, expect a complete review of the movie.

As some of you may know, Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) will be departing Smallville at the end of the seventh season of the show. In fact, his final episode will be the season finale, “Arctic.”
On Superman Homepage, the page’s very own Neal Bailey interviewed Michael Rosenbaum at a Calgary Convention where he discusses his run on Smallville and what we can expect in the future for this wonderful actor. Also, Rosenbaum discusses what exactly his final shot in the show will be, and that his final episode will be a “very very good ending”.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Apple is expected to Thursday that it has struck a deal with a wide array of major and mini studios to offer many new releases for purchase at its iTunes store. These new arrangement involves studios such as 20th Century Fox, New Line, Universal, Sony Pictures, Lionsgate and Warner Bros. This could include available on some older releases as well for some titles that would be very cool to us fan boys such as Serenity, Lord of the Rings, Batman Begins, and Superman Returns.
This announcement comes off the heels of the announcement in January that many of their movies would be avaialiable for rental and not purchase. I, for one, was not happy with the iTunes rental system and am happy that they’re making the foray back into purchasing movies. I am anxious to see what movies could come out of this new deal.
Thanks to Comingsoon.net for this news tip!
BIG UPDATE: This new deal has gone into full effect, as all movies that were once available for rent are now available for purchase. This includes iTunes’ superhero films which happen to include Batman Begins and Superman Doomsday. Now if we can have the movies up there, why do we not have Smallville up on iTunes?

A show I have not talked about on this show on this site too much is a charming little show called Kyle XY. It has everything - - heart, mystery, and compelling characters. If you have not seen this show, check it out. I would highly recommend it. Anyways, I digress.
TV.com recently posted information about the season 3 premiere, which is entitled “It Happened . . .” and was said to air on June 16, 2008, but is now saying it is January 12, 2009. I really hope that is the former, because an extended hiatus can really kill a show.
NOTE: Expect a prehash on this site just before the season premiere on where I think the next season of this show will go, similar to the prehash I gave on Battlestar Galactica.

Several sources that after the credits to the new Marvel summer blockbuster, Iron Man, there is a very very exciting scene.
I have no idea what it is, but my thoughts that it might clue in to a sequel with Jim Rhodes as War Machine. After all, it has been announced that if the film does well at the box office, a sequel is expected to be released in 2010. This scene is very exclusive to the release of the film as prior press screenings did not showcase this ending.
Hope everyone enjoys the film tonight!

IF Magazine reports that Guillermo Del Toro wants to see as many familiar faces from the Lord of the Rings trilogy as he can, as the casting was perfect in those movies. (Can’t say I won’t disagree there)
The reason this is is that I’m sure that some of you have heard that there will be two Tolkien films directed by Del Toro. One will be based upon the novel the Hobbit, and the other will be a film, kind of bridging the gap between the Hobbit and the Fellowship of the Ring.
Should be very interesting if we see Cate Blanchett or Viggo Mortensen return to their starring roles in this second film.
NOTE: Look for a “Tim’s Take” in the near future as I discuss this subject of returning characters and story elements in this second transitory film.
In the meantime, read Del Toro’s interview with IF Magazine here.
