Empire Online has an interview with Ian McKellen, where he confirmed himself that he WILL be returning in the rold of Gandalf for the Hobbit features. other things of note in this interview is he kind of reveals the shooting schedule for the movie and his feelings on playing Gandalf.
This news has me excited as I cannot wait to see McKellen return to the grey robes for The Hobbit.
